Cyber attack statistics

As digital activity has increased and businesses rely more on connectivity to increase their efficiency; and as a result, cyber attacks have become more common.

According to statistics from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), four in ten businesses (39%) reported having cyber security attacks or breaches in the 12-month period covering March 2020 to April 2021. The report also revealed that around a quarter of charities (26%) suffered an attack or breach in the same 12-month period.

Additionally, among the organisations which identified attacks or breaches, around a quarter of them experience them at least once a week.

What are the costs to businesses?

In the UK, the average costs for businesses is estimated to be £8,460, with a higher estimated cost for medium and large firms combined – at £13,400. Overall, cyber crime is believed to cost the UK an estimated £27 billion every year, as well as the immeasurable costs of intellectual property theft and espionage.

Therefore it is crucial to provide Cyber Security training to all your employees who do any work in the cyberspace, so that they learn how to recognise online security threats and follow steps to minimise their risks.

Cyber security training

Cyber security training is very important on both an individual level and as a member of an organisation. With the significant advantages that digitalisation has bought along, there are new risks and dangers that we need to learn and understand.

It is therefore very important for an organisation to invest in cyber security training to raise awareness in your organisation and reduce cyber security vulnerabilities.
